A beautiful Job Ardern violin; one of the 500 made in Wilmslow, Cheshire, during his lifetime (1826 - 1912). The instrument is branded with the number A 215. This violin has been in my possession for 16 years but it is time for it to go to a new home as I no longer play. It produces a beautiful sound and would suit an intermediate to advanced violinist.
The violin was examined by violin maker Carol S Davies in 2004 and she made the following observations:
"Amatese modelling with medium rise in the vicinity of the bridge. Graceful and elegant arching. Long sound holes with large upper and lower curves. Brown varnish with reddish tinge.
Body length: 358mm
Neck stop: 130mm
Body stop: 98mm
Upper bout width: 165mm
Lower bout width: 205mm
A fine example of a Job Ardern violin."
Price includes bow (purchased for £900), a gig bag plus accessories (rosin, etc.)
