This German-model violin was made in 1982 by Massachusetts Luther Thomas Knatt (www.newenglandluthiers.org). It is full size, very sweet and even-toned. Despite having modifications done to it such as re-shaping the fingerboard, the violin remained quieter than I needed for solo and chamber music, so last year I had Chris Johnson (www.chrisjohnson.co.uk) turn it into a Baroque fiddle by shortening the fingerboard, changing the bridge, creating a beautiful new tailpiece, and other work. It is now a perfect early music instrument, gut-and- wire-stringed, and comes with a Baroque bow (£50 value) and case, included. Postage and insurance included. Interested buyers may try out the violin in person, and take it for trial on payment of a £500, fully refundable deposit. I will also allow instalment payments to make purchase easier. I am now devoting my time to symphonic and chamber music and would like this elegant violin to have a good home. Any professional or fine amateur player would be satisfied with the instrument.
